Has anyone seen one of these before?

It was issued to a recipient of mine - Arthur Lewis Haden - who served with the L.T.G. during the Boer War.

The medallion is engraved to him and was issued in 1908.

Never seen or heard of anything like that! My little reprint of "The Ladysmith Siege" by G.W.Lines shows "Haden, Lewis" as a member of Ward 1 of the LTG and a "Mrs.Haden" is shown in the alphabetical list of besieged residents. Did the residents have an annual "Ladysmith Night"?
