I purchased mine back in the 1970's and according to my records I purchased it for $60.00 Canadian.....

In Hern's book (# 178 - 2008) he has it listed as R8000 ($900.00 US) in a case and uncased R6000 ($668.00) but the case is not the original as I have shown.....

Well I bought mine in the 1980's, the cased one was about, £75.00, and the cased around £25.00, and as I said I sold an uncased one for £50.00 in the late 1980's. Do you think that's a bit excessive on e-bay.

Where's the best place to purchase a copy of Hern's book, as I've been looking for a copy for a while now.

I got my copy off the usual auction site and they show up there every so often..... I wonder if Kaplan or City Coins would have copies......

Another book that I really like is "Boer War Memorabilia, A Collectors Guide by Pieter Ooshuizen" that also shows up on ebay as well.....

I wonder if one of these CIV Medallions was in the big Spinks sale in 1999 and what It went for, am not home right now so cannot look.....

Hi Frank.....

Normally I do not like to tell the value of items as there are many many variations that can contribute to value.......

But If I was to purchase another I would think between $1000.00 and $1200.00 is maximum that I would be willing to pay..... If it was in its original case......

Out of the case I don't think that I would be willing to pay any more than $600.00 to $700.00.......
