Hi Pete,
Another error in transcription, no wonder I couldn't find it!
Very much appreciated your input.

Private Thomas Insall was entitled to the Queen's South Africa medal with the clasps Cape Colony and Orange Free State.

And now to hope that his QSA turns up for a reunite with his Worcester Jewel!

Cheers Steve

Steve - I note you are a bit short on detail regarding Thomas Install's time in SA. I presume that is because, like me, you cannot find his service records covering his time in SA.

The Medal Roll Pete pointed you towards is that of the 1st Volunteer Service Company attached to the 2nd Worcesters. They went out to SA in February 1900 and did not return until May 1901. As Thomas had returned to civilian life in Blighty in time for the 31 March 1901 Census means he must have come home early for whatever reason.

Regards, David.

For the attention of Neville C in particular to add to his tribute medal database the following:

Whilst searching online for more examples of the Worcester Jewel tribute medal, I came across the above images and short description of a jewel on the South African Medals website.

The medal was awarded to 7299 Trooper Leonard Maberley who served in South Africa with the Imperial Yeomanry.
Checking on Neville's list of known extant jewels, I note that the naming of Maberley has not been converted to green to indicate it's survival. I thought you might like to update his record thereon please.

I have no idea where Maberley's Worcester Jewel currently resides.

Cheers Steve

Hi Paul,
Good to know it is still local. Were you lucky enough to get his QSA with it?
Cheers Steve
