I found this medal in a local junk shop many years ago.

If anyone has any information regarding its context I would be grateful to hear from you.

Many thanks.

Frisby13,

Welcome to the forum.

You have started with an excellent post. The Penarth Medal is extremely scarce so it is a good picture all those years ago.

One sold 14 years ago for £420 would you believe!

Best wishes

Good morning David,
You could still buy a good Talana for that at a pinch for £420, that is a lot of money in my opinion! :(

Frank,

I agree. The tribute medals command some very high prices so there must be collectors out there with some very specific interests.

Best wishes

Tribute medals and Certificates are very sought after from the Boer War, WW1 and 2 as well.....

You can still find the odd bargain though..... There was one on ebay for Doncaster a short time ago that sold for $1500.00 US that sold at DNW for L 2400.00.....

I would have gone after it but I have been offered a partial Egypt and QSA collection and am putting the funds together for that.....
