hi can any one help with this it is marked on a martini henry s.r.g. is this scots railway guards did thay protect railway ? thanks

It could be the Scott's Railway Guards. They was indedd their role.

I believe a few Martinh Henry rifles were still in use too.

Is is possible to post a picture or two?

What makes you think it is the unit initials and not the owner's initials?

Martini's both the Metford and the Henry were still in common usage with the SAMIF and indeed, the enemy, during the war, those issued to the rank and file in the SAMIF remained government property and an example marked SRG could certainly have been one of those.

It will probably be that the file is too large. You can either reduce the dimensions to a max of 1000 px and size less than 400k or you are welcome to email it to me.
