I have found 2 very different cap badges for the 13th Hussars and want to know which one to acquire, that would have been worn by a member of the 13th during the War.

James Walter Streeter served 7 years with the 13th Hussars till March of '03

I think it would have been the second badge, but with a 'Queen's crown', rather than a 'King's crown' (i.e. post-Queen Victoria). The badges below show both crowns.

Regards
Brett

fyrftr422,

As Brett suggests, have a look for a badge with the Queen's crown rather than the later King's.

You shouldn't have too much difficulty in finding one so you can choose a good example.

Best wishes

I had a brain fart the moment I saw the Queen's Crown reference and was about to dismiss the post till I realized you were referring to Queen Victoria and not Elizabeth. Oops! I had not even remotely considered a possible crown difference this early on.

What year would the badges have switched crowns from Victoria to the KC? Nevermind, I found that she died in 1901 so badges would have started to change shortly thereafter.
