We are not talking about some wretched worthless weekenders here and you don't need permission to quote fact! :)
These were a fine body of men, stout, sturdy fellows, great big black moustaches, mainly Londoner's, men who could be relied upon to do a good job!
I don't much care for the IY, but, I hold these men in the same high regard that I have for Lord Lovat's Scouts, my well beloved Manchester's and the Delhi Spearmen, yet you can just go out and buy a really good medal to one of these men for as little as £150-£175 or so, I don't know what some people want these days!
Regards Frank

Could I ask your permission to include this summary in my write up of Mepstead?

Hello Rory,

I'm very interested in the Sharpshooters' rosette. I've attached a photo of my Grandpa, Henry Charles Coppock, who, like your ancestor who I read about in another post of yours, was in the 91st Company (23rd batallion) of the Imperial Yeomanry (Sharpshooters). I'm writing a biography about him as an assignment for the Correspondence Course in Genealogy for the IGHS (based in Canterbury) and am wondering whether you would be willing for me to use a copy of your photo of the rosette in my assignment? I would, of course, acknowledge you in the caption or source.

Unfortunately, I had to reduce the size of the attached photo to such an extent that it might not be possible to make out the rosette too easily by zooming in on the slouch hat.

Regards,
Kathy

Very many years ago now, I do remember reading a regimental history of the Sharpshooters, in respect of the badge shown, the author suggested that it was worn by members of the twenty first battalion and the twenty third battalion "might" have worn it, but, there was no evidence to suggest that they did.

This superb photograph is evidence!
