Good Morning Linney

I am very sure now that it is Natal Guides now..... Will still look to see if I can find a picture somewhere of someone wearing it......

The Mauser is how shall I say bog normal with nothing extraordinary and I understand that the wood work has been refinished that is how I was able to get it reasonably cheap..... Or should I say inexpensive......

Items such as your pistol ammunition pouch very seldom turn up here - even back in the "good old days". So it is good to see such in good condition. Boer Mauser rifles still turn up here every now and again; very occasionally an OVS marked job. However, they may only be purchased on a Permit to Acquire - which is a pain in the neck unless there is something special about a particular example.
I trust that your "bionic man" hospital stay will end with you emerging fighting fit.
Best regards
IL.

Mr QSAMIKE, Sir...

Knowing that 'two's company but three's a crowd' & everyone is doing so well already, I will not further intrude on a subject that I know absolutely nil about, other than mention in Tylden's handy pocket guide to things military in South Africa, merest reference appears to Natal Bridge Guards - considered in essence being a railway police force.

Enjoy.

Certainly not British AND I very much doubt that it has ever left North America in it's lifetime.

Picked up a couple of things at the show today, maybe more tomorrow......

This is an interesting ammo pouch which was purchased along with a BW period Mauser.......

I was to late to get the medals which were sold to some one else but were a QSA/KSA pair.......

The seller was the Great Great Grandson of the original owner.......

He stated that these things were left behind after his GGF had died and been in the house for years.......

I know family stories.......

But then again it could be real........

Anyway here are the pictures of the pouch..... What do you think.......

Frank's reply about the ammunition pouch rang a chord somewhere. Ammunition pouches/accourtements are not my forte; however the design of Mike's illustrated pouch reminds me of the US McKeever design. Could the "NG" intertwined actually stand for "National Guard"?
