Good Evening Everyone......

This is a list that I made up myself from badges that I have actually seen, handled and measured......

I do not have them all, only 4 but am looking for the others..... You can see from the photos that two of them have been blackened and one that has the lower lug missing and there were small holes drilled into it so it could be fastened with thread......

P.S. I forgot to add that there is an urban legend that if the bottom stem of the maple leaf is broken off then the wearer is a Mason..... I have yet to find any proof of this........

Hi Mike,
I have a very small collection ( assemblage ? ) of Canadian badges . If I see what I think is a 'nice 'badge , I tend to keep it. Canadian badge turn up in SA from time to time. I have yet to find anyone locally who will admit to being a mainline collector of Canadian badges although generalist packrats , like myself , will have a few.
So it is with interest that I read your post as I have a Victorian Canadian badge and it is missing its stem, so if legend is to be believed ( and I like the story ) , it belonged to a Mason. It is about 2,5 inches tall ( we went metric in the 1960s , so it is fortunate that I still have a pre-metric ruler ) . Maybe you can tell me a bit more about the badge.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike,
I agree, generally the Canadian badges are well designed and well made.
I have had this Victorian pouch badge ( I assume so from the screw fittings ) for some while and it is definitely the 'best ' Canadian item in my collection. Long ago someone decided to add a slider, which maybe I should have removed. It must have been added for some utilitarian purpose.
There is something about the North West Mounted Police that has a universal appeal.
Regards
Mike

Good Morning Mike......

All I can say is that it is a shame that the slider was put on.......

Have enlarged your pictures......
