I have a white metal shoulder title 'RS' which I wonder if it is of S African origin . In Ray Westlakes Shoulder Title book of 1977 he suggests it may be a Royal Scots piper's shoulder title , in the 1980 edition of his book he says that it is 'as yet unidentified' . To me the style of it with its fancy letters is most un British but very much in the style of several colonial units from the ABW period . Would be interested to hear the opinions of others.

Richmond,

The badge does look very South African. It reminds me of the S in French's Scouts. angloboerwar.com/other-information/16-ot...ormation/1887-badges

Rundle's Scouts?

Yes I have a couple of titles in my collection with similar fonts and have seen many more similar illustrated in Colin Owen's book. Rundles Scouts is a possibility .

Good Evening Everyone......

The badge shown has a Boer War connection but it is a very tenuous and distant one.......

The badge is actually an Australian Rover's Scout cap/beret badge worn between 1920 and about 1980.......

Take a look at this thread in the British Badge Forum.......
