I just came across this cracker. The seller's description claims it's "Formerly the property of General A.W. Thorneycroft, a hero of the Boer War" despite it clearly being a brand new reproduction. An antique looking name tag with Thorneycroft's name has been conveniently stitched inside it. The eBay item number is 271091773610. (I tried linking the page but it didn't work).

For a start Thorneycroft was 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 20 stone while this is the uniform of a man of rather slimmer proportions. Even more damning is that there seems to be something of an industry in selling these uniforms. Another eBay seller, who appears to be the manufacturer, has 9 available at less than 20% of the price the above seller is asking. This seller makes it clear it's a reproduction.

The eBay item number is 222014071183.

I've taken the opportunity to advise the first seller of his "mistake".
