What a beautiful No. 2 Lee Speed, and the photo does it justice. I wish I had photos of mine to share. All I have is a photo of the Display set up at the Houston Gun Show. If I was adept with posting photos I' d send. I need to get a grandchild or greatgrandchild to help me. Those kids nowadays can do anything. Me, I'm still in the precomputer days. (A short post takes me 15 minutes to enter.).
And Linneyl, thanks for the further tie to LH.

Thank you all so much for your replies.

I had never heard of Lumsden's Horse until I acquired this photograph. I was just so excited to find an original image showing the Lee-Speed rifle but once I was able to zoom in on all these chaps and see in more detail their uniforms and equipment, there was a uniqueness about them that just got my attentions - and those hats.!

It took a little time but identifying the unit and of course Holmes was really great.

I will attach a closer image of Holmes and the chap to his left. You can see their unusual slouch hat a little closer and you can also make out their shoulder titles (an example of which I'm still looking for).

BP, the Houston show is great, I have attended a couple of times over the years, now I'm living a little closer to Texas I may be able to get back soon.

Cheerio,

Roy

Roy, this is the last one for a few days, we are going to our ranch to watch one son and grandson hunt. I just porch sit these days. Should be back Tues.
Re Houston Show, it's about 500 Tables now and held in the Arena. Not the over 2500 tables of the past when I was Show Chairman. Now it's mostly modern and hunting stuff, only a few tables of military and only I bring medals. Now a past glory. I only go to sit with my youngest son and see old friends. The roaring days are long gone. Sorry

Thanks for that David,

Yes I was very excited indeed to get this little gem. I don't know why but since I acquired this original photograph and with some investigating was able to ascertain it to be Lumsden's Horse, I have been really quite intrigued by this Anglo-India unit. Their role may have been rather small but from an individual perspective of each trooper, no less important in my book. So to have a small piece of the unit in my hands is a wonderful thing indeed.

Attached is another close-up pic showing this badge in use.
