in Grandfathers box I am not sure if they belong to Australian or British soldier. One is King with green cream and gold ribbon 2 clasps South Africa 1901 and 1902 pointing to R. On rim is 70. TPR R Scott S.A.C. ( I presume South Africa Constabulary) DId he have a regiment prior to this? and is he Australian or British. Cant seem to find him.
Also without a ribbon on Victoria face medal pointing to R on reverse-- on rim 14543 Pte W Bailey R.A.M.C.
I have no idea where g father obtained these medals and they do not seem to be family

The SAC one is the King.s South Africa Medal, and the other is the Quuen's South Africa medal.

The rolls are on Ancestry.

R Scott would have earned the Queen's medal so so I'll check the roll for him.

There are service papers for William Bailey. These are available for free at the National Archives or for a fee online at FindMyPast. His papers will give you useful biographical information.

Best wishes

I have checked R Scott. and think he is Roland Scott from Armidale NSW AUS. He is on Boer war Memorial of 1902. He didnt do too well in life but his family were well recognised in the area. Hope to give the medal to local war ( Not RSL) museum. Many thanks

Perhaps Scott lost his QSA, a medal to which he was certainly entitled, and simply acquired Bailey's one to use as a replacement?
