Hello,I wonder if anyone can help with a recent acquisition? It is a uniform badge for the PCANSR numbered 552 to an Eleanor Beetham who trained at Crumshall Hospital Manchester. It has lost its pin fixing and been converted to take a necklace or chord suspension. It is well polished having lost some of the detail and my question is,would this adaption have been done some years after service or is there any evidence of such alterations being done in the field? There is some history of early civilian Nursing and Midwifery badges being worn on a neck chord but I have never seen such mounting on a PCANSR Badge,Thanks

Lockdales are selling another of these badges. This one is numbered 485 and the recipient is known to be Sister Kate Elizabeth King, who trained at King's College Hospital, having enlisted 28th March, 1900.

My last couple of these that I've had have not been numbered and appear never to have been numbered.Does anyone know if later issue badges were in fact unnumbered or might these have been unawarded badges? In every other respect they are the same weight size and feel of numbered badges I have had.

The badge at Lockdales was issued to the sister of Miss E.M. King whose medals I have in my collection. I also have just purchased the medals to Kate Eliza King and the QSA of her future husband. Hopefully the badge can be reunited too
