Could anyone identify this badge for me.
I think that it maybe from a helmet or a horse it is 10 cm by 8 cm
The motto is definitely the order of the garter
Where it comes from and the insignia in the middle has me stumped

Moyraza,

I am not sure about the badge but the cypher in the middle is interwined and reversed 'VR' for Victoria Regina.

That brings me a step closer but why would they reverse the VR and then intertwine it I do not seem to be able to find it anywhere on the net

It appears to be a Grenadier Guards Valise badge.

It is simply the cypher of Her Majesty the Queen, reversed and interlaced, perfectly normal, the leather Valise was worn with Home Service Full Dress, it was secured to the wearer by leather straps.
