Here is one of the photos from the listing.
The jacket, trousers and bandolier look to be period, whereas I suspect the waistcoat, leather pouch and slouch hat were added for the 1937 commemoration.

I would be wary of the bakelite-looking buttons...
The Union Defence Force had those bandoliers too, for the 1904 Vigueiro Mauser...

I see what you mean Rob,

Here is a photograph of 81 buttons unearthed during the exhumation of Andries Johannes de Jager's remains at Hillside, Ladysmith, in 1978.
All are made of aluminium, none of Bakelite or Vulcanite (Bakelite's precursor).
