I recently saw an original Blue Staats Artelerie field Jacket belonging to an officer, though I can't find it again. I anybody has any photos of surviving examples of these, please send them through.
Further I thought I might add photos of one of the two know surviving Staats Artelerie khaki corduroy filed jacket send to me by MC Heunis. This jacket is currently resides in the collection of the War Museum of the Boer Republics in Bloemfontein.
This uniform was introduced with Act No.1 of 1896, and was made of a cotton sand coloured bedford-corduroy and blue wool felt. These jackets were known to not last too long in the filed and fading to an almost white colour after prolonged use in the veld. This particular jacket was produced by A.Johnson & Co of Pretoria.
