I am sure that there are many variants due to them being made locally and no official party in charge unlike British badges..... Thanks, but I do prefer yours, much rarer!
I do have a little ( and they are very small!) Strathcona's Horse I'll try and find it.

I think what we should keep in mind is that these badges were actually there in the Boer War, unlike the medals, if only they could talk!
What stories they might tell!

Anyway, love your Damants Horse, a really lovelly example,
