Hi,
This photo of my grandfather Matthew Edwards who fought in the Boer Wars in the BSAP and Canadian Scouts has raised several discussions in our family as to which group the uniform he is wearing in this photo
is aligned to. Any help is answering this would be appreciated.

Thanks Bob

Hello Bob.....

This uniform looks like the British South African Police uniform..... But there was a lot of crossover with the Canadian Scouts.....

Here is his inofrmation from Canadian Scouts.....

Edwards, Matthew McNaught - Trooper - 70708 - Country of Origin, Unknown - Enlisted 27th January 1902 - Discharged 30th June 1902 - Previous Service: B.S.A.P. - Q.S.A. Medal with the following clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Rhodesia

Hello Bob,
I agree with Mike, it does have a very Rhodesian look to it.
Regards Frank

Hi Mike,

is there any way of finding his date of enlistment to the BSAP - His number was TPR 0899 - He arrived in SA at Cape Town in 1896 from Ireland via England.

My cousin who also lives in NZ has his medals. QSM - BSAP and KSM - Can Scouts.
