Recently, another forum has been carrying posts on prisoners in various wars, mainly World War II, although the Boer War has now also featured. The recent thread on this forum on the release of British POW's from the Waterval Camp attracted a lot of interest, and there are probably many other POW-related posts elsewhere on the forum.

I wondered if it would be desirable to consolidate all such posts under a new POW topic heading?

Good idea, maybe add in my 3 Boer POW's postings to cover both sides?

Most POW's have some story to tell.

Yes, Brian. I thought anything to do with POW's would be relevant. I had not given the subject much thought until recently and I now realise it is a vast topic.

Brett,

You are correct that it is a large subject.

Do you think we should have a section in the forum dedicated to POWs?

Best wishes
David

I think it would be very useful. It does seem to be a huge subject. Recently, I have found out many things I had not known previously (e.g. the number of British POW's, the conditions at the Waterval Camp etc), and it struck me that it would be very useful to have a one-stop source for all such information.

Also, it is not uncommon to come across ABO's to Boer POW's, but I wonder how often QSA's to British POW's turn up? I have the medals of two British POW's.

Regards
Brett
