A pleasant little addition to my Defence of Ladysmith collection came my way today in the form of a QSA to 13 Gnr. J. Hicks, Natal Voluntrs. with single clasp Defence of Ladysmith.

Hicks was one of only 21 members of the Hotchkiss Gun Detachment stranded in Ladysmith.

Any one who can enlightenm me about the man or the outfit other than what is already on this site or in Colonials in South Africa?
