Hello
I have been offered a QSA/KSA pair to 3498 Pte Harry Byrant 4 DG.
I cannot find him on the site but have found 11 other 4th Dragoon Guards names.
Could these medals be genuine?

Hi Nic and welcome.

He is listed on the site as serving in the 7th Dragoon Guards.

His QSA is on the 7th DG roll, WO100/113p181 with clasps CC, OFS and Belfast.

His KSA (2) is also listed on the 7th DG roll on WO100/302/188. A note says he was demobilised to England on 2 Feb 1902.

His service papers have survived: Harry Bryant from Brentford, Middlesex.

Best wishes
David

They are certainly unlikely to be genuine if they are actually named exactly like that, you would certainly not expect to see a forename, only an initial, his name was actually Harry Bryant, a grocer, from Middlesex, he had originally joined the 4th Dragoon Guards on the 16th of November 1889.

David, Thank you
Seemed strange but that's why you ask the people who know.
I have contacted the seller and get some pictures and the full inscription on the medals.
He has another group to J Goodall 4DGs, I found him on the QSA roll but I don't have access to the KSA.
The clasps on the medal are
Transvaal
Orange Free State
Defence of Ladysmith
Elanslaate

Is this correct?

Hello David
I sent the Goodall medals back as the KSA had been messed about with and needed a replacement suspension.
I have since bought. QV India 4Dgs and QSA/KSA group to E Ellison Corporal Innis Dragoons/ 6th Dragoons.
I can't find the listing of his QSA clasps. I have checked the 6th Dragoons list but he's not on there.
I believe there is a listing for the Innis Dragoons? He is listed as having the medal with 5 clasps.
On the Medal are the clasps Belfast,Diamond Hill,Johannesburg,OFS,CC.
5083 Corporal Ellison E. 6th Dragoons

States QSA missing? Is that him or the medal?

Thanks for any help
