Hi everyone - hoping someone can help with what might be an obvious question. I have a KSA medal named to Pte 3228 W Ford 6th Inniskilling Dragoons. He was captured at Kuilfontein 22nd January 1900. Being this early in the war would he have been issued with both the QSA AND KSA Medals? And if so does anyone know what his QSA entitlement was? And finally I have googled but can't see what the action was on the 22nd when he was taken prisoner. Does anyone know what the Inniskillings were doing on that date? Much appreciated if anyone can shed light on this.

Hi Mike thanks for that. Do you know if that means my chaps war would have been over when he was released in June 1900 or would he have been allowed to rejoin his regiment? Regards Chris

Hi Chris......

I am sure that he would have rejoined his regiment after all you have his KSA.......
I have one where he had been captured twice and released.....
When the guerrilla war was taking place they had nowhere to really keep prisoners.....

Evening KFS
Check the Times Hist of the War in South Africa vol III, p.126 and 126 also p. 487 for actions at Kuilfontein Farm. Page 126 does mention the Inniskillings.
