Good Afternoon......

I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the medal roll for The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and do a look up for me please......

I just rec'd this medal today and even though I can find him in FMP it does not give his medal bars......
Also I have checked the casualty lists and he is not there which makes a single bar medal to the regiment is to me odd......

P.S. Now I have to find the only one named Egg, a Guard on Cape Railway......

WO100/192 shows Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and South Africa 1901, the latter, from the supplementary roll in the same volume.
WO97 confirms the same, Arthur Bacon, was a twenty three year old printer from Kennington, when he originally joined the LNL in 1889, recalled to the colours he served in South Africa from the 26th of January 1901 until, interestingly, the 6th of January 1902.

Thank you for the WO documents it seems that the medal has the wrong bar (s)......

The bar on the medal is a single Relief of Kimberly..... I checked as far as I could go and did not think that the LNL did not officially get that bar......

I have attached some pictures, the naming is correct as is the bar, the attachment of the bar to the medal looks OK as well..... It also looks as if there were no other bars attached..... Issued in error??????

Well, he was certainly not entitled and could not have actually earned that particular clasp, given his service, I would think the medal has been messed around with at some point, with the intention to deceive, I hope you did not pay too much for it.
