The Transkei Mounted Rifles were raised in Butterworth in December 1899.

A very desirable QSA from the next DNW auction

QSA (2) RoM OFS (114 Pte. A. D. Venables. Transkei M.R.)

The description is limited to 'A. D. Venables served with the Transkei Mounted Rifles during the Boer War. '

A look at the rolls shows that Arthur D Venables earned the RoM Clasp from service in the Kimberley Volunteer Regiment (WO100/255p202 refers).

The TMR roll (WO100/277p148) only lists the OFS clasp and provides no link to his other service.

He also served in Brabant's Horse as 301 Trooper.
