Dugie,

Just looking into this. According to the King South Africa Medal roll he was time expired from the Liverpool Regiment by 1903. I agree it is strange but It looks like coincidence that another R Hargreaves should have attested aged 17 in 1904. It cannot, on the face of it, be the same man. Have you looked at these papers to ensure it is not a data error when the information was catalogued?

Kind regards
David

Dugie,

If you access Findmypast, you will be able to download the service papers for R Hargreaves.

www.findmypast.co.uk/search/results?sour...ountry=great+britain

There will be a cost for this but it will hopefully provide you with useful information.

Do you have his KSA to go along with the QSA?

Best wishes
David

Dugie,

It doesn't quick stack up.

The KSA roll notes that he is time expired by 1903 and he does have a low service number.
