Hi Henk
Thanks for the reply regarding young Spearman and the activities of the PAVG - via Open, it wraps up the story quite nicely.
Middleburg was it would seem, a small town at the time and is now a large town!!.

Thanks again
Regards

Les

Hi Les

Sure, just post their names etc, but you can look them up on eGGSA Gravestone database.

Hi Les
I speculated that Middelburg was the name of a farm.
The towns of Middelburg (Transvaal) and Middelburg (Cape Colony) are nowhere near Bethlehem in the Free State

Hi Henk
Didn’t mean to create consternation over which Middleburg was in which State and having read and re-read your explanation, I must confess, I’m still none the wiser!!
But thanks for the response anyway – it will I’m sure, prove most helpful later.

Quote from Adrian posted yesterday regards the location of the action in which…..
Flanagan and Drury reported prisoners at Sherbourne (Sherborne), which is a farm between Middleburg and Colesburg, Eastern Cape, due North of Port Elizabeth and fairly near the OFS (ORC) border.
So it is likely that all in the same incident, near Middleburg, Eastern Cape on 8 or 9 August 1900 ?

Hi Adrian
Tried graves-at-egg.org with three names but all resulted in 'no result' so as the burials are a different topic to George Spearman and the PAVG I thought I'd better start a new 'Burials' topic on the Forum.(at least I'm hoping that's the correct procedure)
