I recently received back from Chris Dixon 4 QSAs that had suffered damage in the past. Chris's excellent work has been to restore the medals to their original condition, expunging the damage they suffered in the intervening time.

I quite admire Mr D, his staff and his emporium in sunny Bridlington, very much old school, long may it continue.

Indeed. His second QSA was in a very sorry state with a loose connecting rod and almost-broken suspender imperilling the long term life of the medal. I was concerned that it would soon resemble the medal on the right of the upper picture.

As an aside, it is quite nice to see medals actually being restored, so many that are outside of collections, in particular those with damage to their suspension have been and very sadly, continue to be scrapped for their basic bullion value.

Agreed, Frank, and its very helpful to have someone like Chris who has the skills and spare clasps and suspenders to undertake the remedial work.
