Not quite what it seams.

QSA (4) 4 clasps Cape Colony, Talana, Defence of Ladysmith, Transvaal (4749 Pte J. Broadley Manchester Regt)

Invalided. Entitled to Natal only (WO100/198p10).

Private Broadley's made-up QSA sold for a hammer price of £160 on Wednesday. Totals (inc VAT on the commission for the UK only): £198. R4,000. Au$350. Can$320. US$250

A recent acquisition was this pair to 5143 Pte. James Tillyer of the Manchester Regiment. Whereas many of his comrades were awarded the DoL and Belfast clasps, Tilley was also awarded the Laings Nek clasp. This was authorised later which I suppose is why it is not affixed to the medal.

I have picked up the following with an interesting pair of bars...... I was wondering if someone who could please check medal roll if they have one........

The two clasps are verified on the 1st Manchesters' roll, WO100/198p4.

That appears to be his only entry.

Edward Atkinson. Born 1873, Service papers exist.
