Interestingly, Kaplan in May 2007 sold the trio including the Natal 1906 medal to the Natal Guides.
Group of three: R. Earnshaw
QSA (3) DoL Tr LN (82 Tpr R. Earnshaw Border M.R.)
Natal (1) 1906 (Sgt R. Earnshaw, Natal Guides)
Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal GV (SQ. Ser. Major R. Earnshaw Natal Gds)
Earnshaw served with the Border Mounted Rifles (1891-1905) and with the Natal Guides (1905-1913). He received his long service medal in 1913. The Natal rebellion medal appears to have been issued at about that time (deduced from the similar style of naming on both medals.) Sold with copies of his QSA roll entry and of his long service medal application.
NOTE: Only 4 Natal Rebellion medals (it was the smallest unit for these purposes) and 1 Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long service medal awarded to the unit.
Thank you for digging out those records. A very rewarding theme for someone with patience and deep pockets. I limited my collection of Natal Guides' medals to the only two men with 'V' surnames (Vinnicombe & Vimpany), so there is still a lot of scope for other collectors!
