Agree re the citation. Indeed, leafing through the "Recommendations" in the Buxton publication, I am struck by chaps who had noteworthy deeds recorded - and who got nothing. Still, that's the military - as anyone who has served an enlistment or two would know.
I seem to recall that Guide H.Loxton's "anomalous" allocation of clasps was discussed some time ago on this Forum. Of course, we will never know the circumstances. Perhaps Guide H.Loxton had special knowledge of the territories being disputed. Or contacts amongst the residents? All we DO know is that the Field Intelligence Department considered our man "Has done excellently throughout".
Best regards
IL.

Mike,

You're right abut the MMSSA publications. They do contain some very useful articles.

Hi
I was the Editor of the MMSSA Journal at the time and I added some "Editor's Notes" at the end of the article.
Regrettably, I disposed of the Loxton DCM because I had 2 other DCM groups named to the FID....... and only subsequently decided on a sub-collection theme "Scouts, Guides and Intelligence "!!!

That is a particularly pleasing medal, always nice to see an example to these recipients, I too, would be absolutely delighted with it.

Very chuffed. He lived in Ward 2 (Ladysmith) during the Boer War and was one of several with that surname in the town.
