Trooper Hood MID, 18th Bn 3 years 10 months ago #69265

Trooper Hood of the 18th Bn was awarded an MID in 1901 (see attached). However I note that the LG omits his initials or number. Does anyone have further ID? Is he related to my Trooper Francis John Courtenay Hood of Paget's Horse (19th Bn).

My useful I.Y.CD shows him as "15458 Tpr. Henry Hood, on Staff, 18th Bn., I.Y."

rdtalbot,

The medal roll shows he earned the clasps CC OFS Tr and Rhodesia. he stayed in SA when he left the IY.

He also earned the KSA (2). The KSA roll notes:

There is probably an attestation paper for him in WO128

discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_q=WO128

This might help to answer the fraternal question.

Many thank David. Frank was Francis and his three brothers were Arthur, Walter and Sidney so no Henry. Funnily enough Frank's family moved to Rhodesia after WW2 only to find Arthur and Sidney's families already there. There had been no inter-family contact after WW1.
