Hi Guys
One more favour, is there a Roll for Marshalls Horse? Trying to find out if a medal I have to 160 Private A T Meiring Marshalls Horse with clasps CC and OFS is all he was entitled to?
I have looked in the Unit Information section and find no reference to this unit under South African Units? Having a blue Saturday!

Not sure if the search facility is working on here? I went out and Googled the Unit and it took me to a site on this Site. However if you go to SA Units and enter Marshalls Horse it says "no results found"?

I went through the whole of the nominal roll and could not find him? There was one other Meiring but not my man.

I have never heard of a Fireman as a Boer War rank, is this unusual?

Hi Brian
When you look at the IMR QSA roll you will find that the recipients' trades were stated in the "Rank" column, e.g. Platelayer, Ganger, Fireman, Driver, etc. That was not used as part of the naming on the QSA

So he was footplate staff. Very nice, in the distant past I do believe I had another (NGR?) that is now in Rorys collection.
