Absolutely nothing...... Most mounted troops are called Trooper but some units still call them Private.....

Trooper - a soldier who belongs to the lowest rank in the part of an army that fights in strong military vehicles or on horses.....
Private - a soldier of the lowest rank in an army....

Thank You, here are photos of the medal. I hope to repair the medal unfortunately no jewlers in my area have even seen this type of medal. any advice to repair the suspender.

Some time ago, I re-suspendered a QSA to TMI and got great service by C.J. and A.,J.Dixon Ltd. in the UK. This is not an inexpensive project, BTW.

I would echo IL and suggest asking Chris Dixon for a quote to restore this medal to its original state, if that is what you wish to do.

I hate to see medals in that state, I think I would be tempted to have it restored, you have it's original claw, so it would be the cost of an original suspender, the clasps and the work itself to consider.
