Albert R Manton attested for the 1st Royal Dragoons and served with them in South Africa during the Boer War (entitled to a QSA (3) and KSA (2). He saw further service during the Great War on the Western Front from 8 October 1914, but the MM and MID are both unconfirmed and appear to be entirely self-awarded.

Described as: 'polished fine or better, unofficial rivets between clasps 4 and 5, last 2 clasps issued off a later roll. With 3 copied rolls, all clasps confirmed.'
