Hello Forum
I wondered if you can help shine some light on Private Thomas Toft?
4553- 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade. I have 2 of his 3 medals he was awarded and the only information I can find is his medal rolls. He was entitled to the Queens Sudan medal 1896-98, the Khedives Sudan medal with Khartoum clasp and a QSA with the Defence of Ladysmith. His QSA roll says he was invalided. That’s about all I can find, I would be very grateful if there is anyone who can add any details. A birth date or any detail on his service would be welcomed. I checked the Field Force register with no luck so he may have been invalided due to accident or disease. Unfortunately, his Khedive medal is possibly still out there somewhere.
Many thanks
Dave

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Dave - One bit of good news is that many Khedive's Sudan Medals to the Rifle Brigade were issued unnnamed including one in my collection and most that I've seen on the market. Some were regimentally named but from what I've seen these appear to be in a minority.

The bottom line is that it's likely there isn't and never was a KS named to him and in your position I'd be inclined to look for an unnamed medal to fill the gap. They crop up on the market fairly frequently.
