Hi All
This to me is a very interesting medal and hope more comments come from this article. Medal roll is found W.O.100/244 reveal that Cpl.F BURTON was likely to have been a member of Rimingtons Guides (sometimes known as Rimington Tigers from the leopard skin hatbands worn on their slouch hats)Some went on to earn the 1901 clasp of whom Sgt. Berry earned the 1902 clasp (only issue) Some information regarding Cpl. Burton-
Enlisted at the age of 30 Years was English speaking and his trade is known as Harness Maker. He was discharged on the 31 Jan 1901 after 1 Yr and 104 days service. I must say he say some heated battles during his cause of service.
Would be interested to know if any others can contribute some more info to this interesting soldier.
I have attached his pic of his medal
Regards

Elandslaagte.

What a fabulous QSA. 8 battle clasps and missing a data clasp. Presumably the QSA is named to Damant's Horse?

I don't have any more information on your man but the medal is lovely to see.

Best wishes
David
