David Brazier

Born in Cape Colony 1875. Trade: Brickmaker in Mafeking (recorded in the 1899 voters' roll as Brazier). Served with D Section, MTG (Siege Slip nominal roll). His father was Henry Richard Brazer (1832-1901), also a Mafeking defender

Henry Richard Brazer

Born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England, in 1832, son of David and Susan Brazer. Enlisted in the 31st (Huntingdonshire) Foot (2748 Private) in 1852 as Richard Brazer and Breaze. Served in the Crimean War including the operations at Sebastopol. Served in the 1st East Surrey Regiment, 1852-64. Discharged 1864. Carpenter in Victoria West c 1883. Carpenter at Market Street, Johannesburg c 1883-6. Brickmaker in Mafeking (recorded in the 1899 Voters' Roll as Brazier). Served with D Section, MTG (Siege Slip nominal roll). He was married to Dorothy Van Eeden. He died in Mafeking 13 March 1901
