Work on the Defence of Mafeking roll has been progressing in the last year and there is still quite a lot lot more to do.
The roll for medals with the Defence of Mafeking clasp stands at 1,307. This may reduce slightly as duplicates and roll errors are removed.
Of these, 140 were returned, leaving a figure of around 1,166 issued.
I am currently seeking extant medals. So far I have found 353 (30%) which are mostly QSAs but include the occasional KSA or BSACM.
