Hi
Has any member who collects and researches QSA and clasps, ever come across
A medal in which the clasps do not comply with the Medal roll and service papers
I am looking at a medal with four clasps CC/PARD/DRIE/JOH/ which in all purposes look correct in respect to rivets and impressing of details
But the Service file and the medal roll both show the same entitlement of three clasps
CC/O.F.S./JOH/
Which one is more likely to be correct the roll and service file, or the medal itself

Philip,

I would say the roll is the more correct of the three.

In this case it may be possible that he earned the other clasps with a different unit? Paardeberg and Driefontein are both in the OFS and so would replace the OFS clasp if awarded.

Is it likely he served in a different unit?

Hi Philip
Any chance you could post the chaps details?
Might help to investigate further.
