A recent purchase was this QSA with DoK to John Meder. The "original" QSA/KSA/Coro 02 to Damant's Horse was sold by DNW many years ago. Meder only joined DH in November 1900, long after Paardeberg - my question is then - who did he earn the Paardeberg clasp with or was he not there?

Regards

Rory

Rimmingtons Guides perhaps?

They were one and the same Dave. See also nominal roll below. Only attested in November 1900. Paardeberg 18-27 February 1900.

Yeah, I know, thought he may have been with Rimmingtons early on,until you posted the nominal roll.
Interesting that his medal rolls tick all the boxes for clasps . However, I can now see the Paardeberg clasp is proving an enigma. Will delve some more.

Cannot find Sgt Meder in any other regiment or guard.
Damants and KTG are all that register.
Paardeberg, is a mystery.
Do you have any thoughts? Cannot see a reason for him to receive it reference the dates.....I wonder why its ticked on the roll?
A conundrum indeed.

Quite so Dave - although I didn't touch on it - the other issue is that one can't have both the OFS and Paardeberg clasps on the same medal (to the same recipient) - this could be one of those unexplained anomalies unless someone comes along to the rescue...
