Misconduct - G Isaacs 4544 Private 2nd Battalion Royal Berkshires 3 years 3 weeks ago #81651

George Isaac(s) forfeited his KSA and 2 clasps ‘on discharge for misconduct’. He later joined the Worcestershires to fight in WW1 and was KIA in France and Flanders in 1915.
Interested to know exactly what the misconduct related to, does anyone know how I can find out?

Hi,

I have also located his QSA entitlement on the Campaign Medal and Award Roll (WO100/193) for the 2nd Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment, which was signed off on the 26th August 1901 at De Aar, see below. He was originally entitled to the Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal clasps.

On this Roll, George Isaacs is listed as having a regimental number of 4574 and printed in bold writing, forfeited. There is unfortunately no other information of the reason for the forfeiture of this medal, other than it was returned on the 16/04/03.

I hope that another member can assist you further with your inquiry.

3 x Courts Marshal will do it.
1. 4th March 1898 - attempting to dessert HM Force
- 28 days imprisonment.
2. 26 June 1902 - "When on active service - Drunkenness on duty"
- fined 1GBP and 28 days imprisonment
3. 17 December 1902 - "Breaking out of barracks"
- 28 days imprisonment.
4. 22 January 1903 - Imprisoned by Commanding Officer (Absent from duty)

Discharged 22 January 1903 owing to misconduct.
Obviously he recidivism was the cause.
A note on his file states "Prior service forfeited on Discharge.

I hope this helps
