M&E state T. C. L. Howard of Gorringe’s Flying Column is confirmed on the medal roll; he additionally served earlier with the Cape Defence Force and Somerset East Town Guard (N. 166).

Joseph James Jackson, a clerk from Port Elizabeth, attested into the Colonial Defence Force on 25 May 1901 and served during the Boer War with Gorringe’s Flying Column. He died, aged 69, in Port Elizabeth, on 29 April 1953.
