For some reason I'm unable to find any records for either recipient. One medal was awarded to a JJ Bostock 6230 of the Royal West Kent Regiment and the other to a Tpr T T Macdougall 2288 of the South African Constabulary. I'm left wondering if these medals might be forgeries.

Hello Wisetraveller.
There are medal rolls for both of your recipients.
J J Bostock 2nd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment clasp entitlement Cape Colony, Orange Free State and 2 date clasps 1901 & 1902
Please note regimental number on rolls record 6230 and 6830. What number is on your medal? Possible error on rolls.

TT Macdougall 2288 A division S A C clasp entitlement, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal plus 1902 date clasp.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave
