Today's arrival:
Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (Lieut: S. L. Holland. 6/Drgns.); 1914-15 Star (Capt. Hon. S. L. Holland. 6/Dns.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (Capt. Hon. S. L. Holland.); Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937, nearly extremely fine (6)
Holland served in South Africa and, on 10 February, whilst in charge of a small detachment at Karroo Point, ‘2/Lieut Holland and 40 men took part in a big engagement outside Jansenville in which 40 Boers were killed or wounded’ (Regimental War Diary refers).
Does anyone have the regimental diary or other material that can possibly shed more light on this incident?
