Hi,
On Find My Past an A. Matthews (no number) appears on the Medal Roll for the 2nd Battalion S.W.B. in South Africa.
I have fully researched the life (cradle to grave) of Arthur Matthews No. 1376 who served with the 1st Volunteer Batt. S.W.B. from 1886 to 1906 and received the Vol. L.S. Medal in 1906. His actual name was David Arthur Probert Matthews and he lived most of his life in Brecon.
Does anyone have information on the first A. Matthews to show he was not my Arthur and therefore end any hopes he might have served with one of the Service Companies?
He was in Brecon for the 1901 Census so I realise there is only a slim chance.
Dave.

Hello Dave
Attached for your information.

The above A Matthews appears on the QSA medal roll.
His KSA records the same regimental number. However, his initials are J A Matthews.
Not sure if this helps? But a possibility regarding the missing J when roll was compiled.

Dave F..........
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi,
Many thanks. That shows it is not my Arthur.
Thanks,
Dave
