Is anyone able to help work out which unit the owner of these miniatures might have belonged to...? They were found in a box with no supporting evidence!

Clasps on the QSA are for Transvaal, Orange Free State, Cape Colony, Relief of Ladysmith and Tugela Heights.

KSA has both 1901 and 1902 clasps.

Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately not - if they are not named on the rims (few were) then it's needle in a haystack stuff. Literally thousands of men earned that combination of clasps to their medals.

Thanks Rory. Definitely not expecting to be able to narrow it down to a person but just wondered if that combo of clasps would help to identify a regiment/unit, but perhaps it is a very common combination!

Thousands of those involved in the Relief of Ladysmith would have gone on to earn the OFS and Transvaal clasps. This applied to both Colonial and Imperial Regulars. Look at the units who served with the Natal Field Force to get a feel for which units were there.

E Stewart-Lockhart,

Conan's Doyle account of Colenso give a good feel for the unit involved in the relief, in paragraphs 5 and 6.

Thanks David. That is a pretty broad body of men... I suspect these miniatures will remain a mystery!
