A question for esteemed members - one of my Noonan's purchases was the QSA/Kimberley Star pair to Henry Holgate who died of disease on 25 February 1901 whilst serving with the 3rd Mounted Infantry.

During the Siege of Kimberley a section or detachment of the L.N.L. chaps there were Mounted Infantry and frequently engaged at e.g. Dronfeld. Given that Holgate later served with the M.I. would it be safe to assume that he was one of the detachment referred to?

Regards

Rory

Hello Rory,

There is a list of the men who were noted as serving in the MI at the time of the siege. Sadly, he is not one of them.

Here is the list from my Kimberley book.

Best wishes
