I do not usually acquire renamed medals , but this one intrigued me .

W Mitchley, Mashonaland Mission 1893
A SAGS medal with improvised clasp Matabeleland 1893 and QSA ribbon.
All I have managed to find is a reference to W Mitchley, “an ordinand who replaced Ritchie in Beira, and who left under a cloud “ ?

Any help will be much appreciated .

Intriguing and obviously named a long time ago. I too have drawn a blank looking in the usual places. With the QSA ribbon he has managed to tick all three boxes - SAGS/BSAC and QSA - quite a character.
