Help needed from members please. I have a no-clasp QSA to Mr. W.G. Coulton whom I can't find on the rolls.

There is a suspicion that he was a Civilian employed in the Attorney General's Department but I can't find him on that roll. This is based on the fact that he was a practicing Solicitor before and after the war.

All assistance in tracking him down on the rolls would be appreciated.

Regards

Rory

Rory,

This won't be of help, but, oddly for a solicitor, Coulton does not appear on the published Incorporated Law Society's list of members who served in South Africa. Perhaps as a civilian, he was not considered worthy of inclusion? If he was indeed employed in the Attorney General's Department, it may have been felt that he was simply working abroad rather than serving his country.

Rory,

I assume you have seen this, showing a solicitor named W. Coulton departing from Southampton for the Cape on 27 Apr 1901 (on board the S.S. Scot).

Hi Rory,

Continuing with Neville's theme here is the marriage certificate for a solicitor William G Coulton in 1902:

Thanks Sturgy - I have his obituary etc. but need a medal roll to tie in with his medal.

His obituary mentions that he "rendered important work on the Commission of Accounts after the Boer War" - I know this states after the Boer War which makes me wonder if this is him - hence my need to find the medal roll.

Hi Rory,

I just stumbled across this post from almost 2 years ago; looks like you aren't the only one who was trying to locate him on the roll:

PS: I didn't have any luck with the rolls either
